The term ‘Bellam Kommulu’ literally translates to Jaggeried Tusks – an apt description for this crispy tusk-shaped specialty from South India. The tusk shape of Bellam Kommulu emerges from diligently shaping the mixture of delicious ingredients by hand. In this way, each kommulu is prepared with great care and achieves its own unique look, which is slightly different from that of the others.

Once they have been shaped and fried into crispy snacks, the kommulus are dipped in a sticky-sweet jaggery syrup – making this traditional festive special a combination of both sweet and snack!
